The Monopoly (game) Syndrome

Yes, a new syndrome coined by me just now ?

Anyone who’s played this fantastic board game should know by now; how important is LIQUIDITY & CASH FLOW while managing Assets & Money

If one played this money game sensibly & imbibed the learning for life…. no cash flow issues should be faced as an adult.

Scenario…

A player buys & builds real estate properties in the cities of his luck, and then…….waits for people to occupy & pay the rentals

But, did he / she manage cash flows in a sensible way OR did all the Cash Given at the beginning go into fully buying / building Assets which have NO LIQUIDITY (or have a FORCED LIQUIDITY)

What would happen if he / she needs to pay the Taxes, Fines, Community chests & ofcourse paying the other property owners?

No Cash left??
Borrow from the bank ??‍♂️

More cash going out due to rental payments in the game?
More debt to be repaid, as there isn’t any cash with us & the assets can’t be sold ??‍♂️

No occupancy in our owned properties?
Neither Growth Nor Cash Inflow ??‍♂️

The first lesson in cash flow & liquidity for kids is from MONOPOLY

Teach the kids the game as it is, their future life will be less money error prone

The issue is….. Majority think they know the game, but they just don’t understand it the way it’s supposed to be

Don’t fall into the MONOPOLY SYNDROME ???
