Value or Price (hiring / partnering with the right mindset)

Benjamin Graham’s statement on Value vs Price – “Price is what you pay, Value is what you get”

The meaning of this statement from a stock market perspective is different Vs when we look at it from a life’s perspective

In my 25+ years of work life, I would have interacted with thousands of individuals from hundreds of countries (professional & personal interactions). Very few understand the concept of the price they pay for the value they get

I don’t blame the majority who never understand this concept; it’s just that their thought process is not aligned to view the bigger picture or get a holistic understanding on the price vs value differential.

It’s very tough these days to get a decent employee / partnership to hire; but if we get the right person (after fact checking that the other person is also aligned to the same thought as us), then – the price we pay for that association is neither quantifiable nor definable with an absolute monetary value; it’s actually invaluable. In fact it’s a spec in a sand dune

Every conversation we have

Every idea and the discussions we have

Every query we have to be answered

Every thought we share for further clarity

Every actionable course taken, leading us towards the chosen destination

Every sensible and suitable decision taken

Every landmine that’s avoided via thoughtful conversations

  • these don’t just happen with a magic wand.

They come from years and years of filtered out information and learnings, leading to accumulated wisdom

I hear so many people sharing with me on the difficulty of finding quality people to be hired or associated with.

Pls do remember this – if at all you get one who’s reasonably good enough on the higher weighted parameters of your choice, don’t ever lose that association even if there is a differential monetary price to be paid…….Why?

Because, we can never monetarily quantify the invaluable conversations which save us from the biggest pitfalls in life
