Ranga Maarthaanda, ‘Sun of the stage (theatre)’ – the sense in Succession Planning

Long post – but pls do read for the benefit 🙏🏻

Thanks to a couple of my cousins who recommended me to watch this film 🙏🏻- a 2023 Telugu movie, available on Amazon Prime for consumption – Ranga Maarthaanda

But why am I penning down something on this movie?

Because, it throws light on two extremely critical aspects in ones life 🧬

  1. Value of a true Friend
  2. Succession Planning

We leave the first point and move onto the second one 😀

The movie revolves around the story of a great theatre artist’s post retirement life but with a twist, handing over majority of his Wealth to the next generation (daughter, daughter in law, son etc.) & keeping little for self & wife 🤐

Why? He thinks that his kids are good & responsible enough to take care of them, as parents, and that his and his wife’s requirements are minimal from now on – the thoughts emerge – We don’t need to keep anything at our end + _if not today, it’ll go to them tomorrow, and so, let’s pass on the wealth today itself 😵‍💫

And so it happens, on the day of his retirement, he just gives away the majority of his assets (financial & physical) to gen next

What awaits in the future?

Maybe you need to watch the movie, but it’s quite simple – Ranga Maarthaanda & his wife’ lives turn around facing disaster after disaster

I’m not saying that all in the next generation are the way it’s been depicted in the movie. I know of enough children who adore & take care of their parents in an exemplary way…but, the lesson is –

Pls Do Not Transfer majority of your Wealth (Financial or Physical Assets) to the next generation before an eventuality

As your family’s well wisher, I do have conversations on this sensitive topic with many of you. And by far, some get it and some don’t. Either way, there isn’t a fault. I leave it there. It’s a personal call and I respect the decision but draw a line which I’m not going to cross beyond 😇

For many, it’s a very difficult logic to get. Why? Because our Emotion on bonding with children precedes Logic & rationality (yes, we all fall for it – we’re human)

Bottomline….

Wealth transfer without Values & Principles will destroy future wealth

but _

Wealth transfer without keeping anything at our end (financial & physical), until the eventuality, is a disaster waiting to happen in the present, anyday_

The choice is yours – as always 🙏🏻

I end it by saying…

Transferring Values & Principles are good, but can they withstand the cyclones and quakes of Time & Situations in ones life?

That’s the problem to deal with
