Why don’t we get rid of it?
Physical Junk – Over the last 5 or 6 years, both me & my wife have been actively working towards not accumulating any unwanted stuff, aka junk (we never bought unwanted stuff earlier too, but wasn’t as conscious as in the recent past)
What we use or consume today / tomorrow or on a continuous basis, is what we buy
Else, it’s a strict NO to any kind of accumulation
Similarly, on Digital Junk – I clean up my whatsapp / gallery atleast once or twice in a day, cloud – once in a month etc. What’s not needed for the future reference, doesn’t stay on the devices.
Mental junk – What someone said, negative thoughts, overthinking etc. are the things to let go off at the earliest. Difficult to achieve, but feels a lot lighter when we start to work consciously on it.
Yes, there will be bouts of frustrations but when we continue to work, it’ll feel good??
Money & Investments – junk decisions in spending will lead to junk outcomes only , that’s the money side of it. If we can’t make out the difference between
What’s essential?
What’s needed?
What’s a comfort?
What’s a want?
What’s a today’s decision & what’s a future decision?
there is bound to be junk accumulated. In addition, I needn’t specify the amount of unwanted investment / insurance decisions taken in our life.
Bottomline…
Stay light on mental, physical, digital & money / investments junk
Keep life Simple
By the way, though not categorised as Junk – In the process of getting lighter & keeping life simple, I’ve reduced one of my most loved possessions – Books, from about 1500 plus books12 years ago, to under 150 today.
I now hold books only which I’ve got as gifts from many loving people or the ones I use continuously to refer for my work.
Last Sunday, I gave away about 150 books to the library in Ramakrishna Mutt, Hyderabad
The last time I did this for about 400 + books & shared it with you all….5 of you donated your books to that library within a month??
If you don’t need them, there are people needing them out there
